Dr. Hassan Naji’s Expertise I am an adjunct faculty of Anatomy & Physiology at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, Valparaiso campus. I also teach Anatomy & Physiology, and Microbiology at MJS School of Nursing, and Brightwood College. I also work as an adjunct faculty for Biology at Brown Mackie College in Merrillville, Indiana. I received my Ph.D. in Public Health with Epidemiology concentration from Walden University. My dissertation focused on the interaction between bisphenol A and the reporting of cardiovascular diseases. My current research interests are diverse. Besides my interest in environmental phenols, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammation, I am focusing on researching the correlation between cancer and chronic inflammation. While the genetic changes that occur to cells switching them to multiply uncontrollably, little is known about ancillary processes provided to tumor cells that are not necessarily cancerous themselves. Chronic inflammation is one of those processes that is thought to induce carcinogenesis and render cancer resistant to anti-growth and pro-death signals. My research interest in this matter focuses on understanding the physiological processes that maintain tissue homeostasis leading to better understanding between inflammatory response and cancer.
